  • Sewing Circle

    Join other sewing enthusiasts for an evening of camaraderie and sharing. This is a great time to bring your personal projects to work on in the company of others and to learn tips. There will be a sewing teacher on hand to answer questions and assist with projects.

  • Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving

    Are you curious about learning to weave? Join textile artist Megan Mesloh for a month-long series of weaving on a rigid heddle loom at the MakerSpace. Rigid Heddle looms are tabletop looms that are approachable to learn and work on.

    In this class you will learn the process of warping (setting up the loom), pattern design and weaving in a hands-on setting. All yarn and tools provided.

    Students can expect to take away a finished sampler or wall hanging at the end of class!

  • Naturally Dyed Scarves and Bandanas

    Come learn the basics of making natural dyes with locally grown plants and walk away with with your own beautiful silk scarf and bandana.

    We’ll practice a few methods for creating patterns on textiles, and will discuss the process and chemistry of natural dying, as well as which dye plants we can grow and harvest locally.

  • Beginning Machine Sewing

    The perfect class to take if you are new to sewing or need a refresher. Make a lined tote bag while learning the basics of sewing with a sewing machine.

  • Design Your Own Bag

    Design and sew your own purse or tote bag using reclaimed denim! First time sewing students please come 30 minutes early for a beginner’s orientation. Open Studio time may be requried to finish your project.

  • Sew Your Own Clothes

    Have you ever wanted to sew your own clothes but not sure where to start? Join us for this beginner-friendly class where you will be guided step by step in the process of making a pair of PJ pants. You will learn about tools of the trade, how to use a commercial pattern, basic construction skills and materials. Bring your own machine or use ours. Taught by Amy Klee, who has over 25+ years of design experience in the performance apparel industry. To finish their PJs, students need to attend all three classes.

  • Gel Printing on Fabrics

    Imagine creating one of a kind botanical prints on fabric and card stock using paint and a gel plate. Start your journey with a nature walk to collect a variety of leaves and flowers with interesting textures, shapes and sizes. In class, we will make prints to take home for your sewing projects and greeting cards.

  • Beginning Machine Sewing (With option to Bring Your Own Machine)

    In this class, we will be exploring our own sewing machine and learning how to operate, adjust, and maintain it. The class will start with a quick intro and overview of machine sewing then we will jump right into a project and learn/adjust the machines as we go along. We will be making grocery-style bags with handles from a variety of fabrics.

  • Introduction to Knitting

  • Intro to Embroidery

    In this class, you will learn the basics of embroidery and various embroidery stitches, and create an embroidery sampler. Your instructor studied and taught textile crafts in Swedish schools where students learned embroidery, crocheting, knitting, and sewing on the machine. She is excited to bring this experience to the Gorge!

  • Fabric Journal Covers

    In this class, you will learn basic quilting skills and sewing techniques to create unique fabric covers for any size book, journal or magazine that you bring to class. Fabric scraps, thread and batting will be provided to begin your exploration into quilting on a domestic sewing machine. You are welcome to use our sewing machines, or to bring your own. Basic sewing machine skills will be required for this class.
